Access to the White Bear is via a small courtyard just off the High Street. Although notionally all one room, there are at least half a dozen different areas, - some carpeted, some cosy, some with wood-burners, some quieter - that it would be difficult not to satisfy even the most critical of drinkers. There are at least three levels, the lower one with wheelchair access, and comfortable seating throughout. Many pictures, some of them early Whitchurch scenes, adorn the walls. Proclaims itself to have "the busiest beer garden in Whitchurch". Now opens every day and earlier, which is proving popular with mid-morning coffee drinkers as well as ale drinkers.

To the rear beyond the small restaurant, there is a gigantic partly decked outdoor garden area, with a brick-built pizza or tandoori oven, and a heated canopied area. This is in addition to the seating area in the courtyard to the front of the pub.
