Run by a landlord who loves real ale this Batemans owned multi-roomed family run pub serves seven cask ales. The bar area and front room have TVs showing BT sports. Two other rooms, at the back of the pub are quieter and used by various local groups to hold meetings. There is an outside garden which won York CAMRA's 2021 Beer Garden award. There is free bar billiards and board games are available. Good value accommodation. CAMRA Pub of the Year 2017. Beer from the wood occasionally. The four changing beers come from the following LocAle breweries - Bad Seed, Ossett, Roosters, Timothy Taylors.
