This popular local has been the only pub in the village since the 1990s.

The long narrow public bar, with its beamed ceilings, has three distinct sections: an area around the bar counter (with colourful 'Robin Hood' pictures on the front), a small central section by the rear entrance (with tourist literature), and a rear section dominated by a pool table and dart boards. The large, comfortable lounge / function room features a Paddington station clock dated 1854!

Bingo Sunday evening; karaoke last Saturday of month; live music some Friday evenings - see Facebook page for details.

Historic Interest

Old coaching inn, part of which apparently dates back to 1647, but most of the building is 19th-century; the earliest trade directory reference is in 1835. The pub was originally owned by Charles Hill’s Brewery (Burton), which went into liquidation in 1891/2 and was bought by Beard’s Brewery (Castle Gresley). The latter was bought by Marston’s in 1901. Pub sold to NewRiver Retail in late 2013.
