The lounge bar is a 1970's addition to the pub and was built on the site of Dawson's original brewhouse, the Princess Royal Brewery which closed in 1952 was later built nearby. From the entrance the bar is straight ahead, with seating in front of it, there is also another room behind at a higher level. Prices are very reasonable. The pub was purchased by Smart Property Homes in 2013.
