This historic former coaching house was constructed in the 17th Century and gains its maritime name from being built using timbers from a dismantled ship. In 2012 the pub was revitalised as a busy town-centre venue. Wooden beams contribute to the all round atmosphere where welcoming staff add to the old fashioned feel. Three changing real ales, mainly from the Marston's range, always include one from local breweries. A substantial range of gins and tonics are also on offer. The pretty garden has a heated smoking area and BBQ's are occasionally held in the summer months, but otherwise food is no longer served on a regular basis. There is a quiz night on Thursdays and live bands on Saturday nights and special occasions, sometimes Friday night too. A live monthly 'board game night' is held on the second Wednesday of the month. Regular events are held, some being for charity. Accommodation comprises of three en-suite rooms. In winter the opening hours Mon-Thu may be 12-3, 5-11.
