The family-friendly Fighting Cocks stands on the north-west edge of the New Forest, and is popular with walkers, cyclists, and visitors to nearby Sandy Balls holiday, camping and caravan park. The central bar has five hand pumps (serving three continuously changing real ales and the other two for real cider) and is located between two large dining areas. Although the vegetarian is not neglected, the carnivore is especially well-served here as the landlord is a master butcher; sausages and burgers are home-made. Outside is a patio with benches at the front and rear, plus a small garden with children's play area at the rear. Touring vans are permitted to stay overnight in the large car park. Godshill pottery is but a few minutes' walk eastwards.
