This former coaching inn, close to the Town Museum and other local amenities, has an impressive staircase, and a bar top formed from a single piece of elm about seven metres long. Drinkers and diners in the main area are separated by a large fireplace, and there is also a small dining room. A quiz night is usually held on winter Sunday or Monday nights. Market Place bus stops have no useful service, use Salisbury Street stops.

Historic Interest

Early 18th century with 19th century alterations. Grade II listed. Historic England list entry 1350961. Early 19th century brick faced annex with archway also Grade II listed - entry 1166863.
