A town centre Tudor house that was originally built in 1753 and was previously named after Market Drayton’s famous son Sir Robert Clive (of India) and curiously a French recipe for mutton pie, a coffyne, that was once served to its customers. The Clive as it is known locally offers 4 changing ales at the weekend with at least two on during the week and is one of only 4 free houses in the town. It has 3 open fires and a pleasant innkeeper that also boasts a large outside decking drinking area for the summer. The pub holds regular music nights in the function room.
