The licensees of this cosy out-of-town pub and restaurant gave it a new lease of life in 2012 and it is now at the heart of its local community. The bar area features a lovely fully working inglenook fireplace and the restaurant area (formerly a brew-house for Sparks Farm, then from 1728 to 1982 a smithy with a working forge) was given Grade II listed status in 1967. and has etched glass windows. Up to six draft real ales are on offer from the bar and can include one or two from local breweries. The menu features Thai food as well as local produce. A take-home service is available. Authentic Thai dishes are a speciality, with food freshly prepared from ingredients mostly sourced locally (no food Sunday evenings). Outside is a pleasant garden, which hosts three beer festivals and other events every year, and is a perfect area for alfresco drinking and dining. A quiz night is held every Monday at 8 pm. Dogs are welcome, but only allowed in the bar area, where they can enjoy the free doggy biscuit treats on offer.
