A welcoming, clean upmarket inn situated in the town square, next door to Golden Lion. Popular with locals tourists, ramblers and day trippers. The area is renowned for local countryside walks. The refurbished bar retains original features such as an open log fire. Traditional pub food is served. Rail and bus links to Allendale are good, and it is well worth seeking out this small market town. Handy for PlusBus via Hexham rail station. Sunday evening bingo sessions.
