A excellent remote Inn on the Military road, the B6318, with Hadrian's Wall, Steel Rigg, The Sill and Vindolanda nearby, which is popular with walkers & tourists. It has 18 en-suite bedrooms and a fully re-furbished bar area (after completion of it's November 2015 works). It has full disabled access and is now dog friendly. The pub's own brewhouse opened around July 2017 and serves this and other pubs in common management.

The Inn has a wide range of bottled beers from around the world and its own well as water supply. The Inn also acts as a rural transport interchange.
