Self-proclaimed gastro-pub!.

After a decade as an Indian restaurant and subsequent closure, this old village pub re-opened in 2015 as a free-house under new ownership and after substantial refurbishment.

The smart, modern-style interior comprises a pair of linked rooms around a central bar area, plus a couple of small peripheral rooms. Some areas are set aside for dining, and there are comfy armchairs and a settee around a small table by a brick fireplace.

Moderately extensive but fairly standard pub menu, including sandwiches, light bites, and a fixed price more limited menu, plus a separate Sunday lunch menu.

According to Ordnance Survey data, this is the furthest pub from the sea in the UK!

Historic Interest

Oldest part of the building is believed to date back to the 17th-century, but the earliest reference to a pub is in 1821. Thought to have incorporated a shop and/or bakery at one time. Reportedly once owned by Offilers, a Derby brewery which closed in 1966.
