Totally rebuilt early in the millennium replacing the 16th century listed building on the site. The designers have attempted to retain some of the historic charm of the previous building, with low-beamed ceilings. The old front door is all that remains of the old incarnation. The name commemorates a racehorse once owned by former local landowner Lord de Tabley. It is now a large restaurant/pub. The restaurant can occasionally be reserved for functions. The pub opens early for breakfast and is popular with people commuting to football matches in Manchester, where the large car park and proximity to the motorway are useful. Seven rooms provide en-suite accommodation.

The hand pumps offer Robinson's Unicorn and a guest from the Robinsons stable but not always at the same time.

A pool table is a surprise feature.
