Originally built c1813 and called the White Horse until 1832 (it was a watering-hole for horses). Rebuilt in the 1894 by the New Westminster brewery, whose premises were situated a short distance away in Earl Street. Now a welcoming single-bar pub, with a fine, long wooden bar and bar back. Photographs of local scenes adorn the walls. Watch out for two ‘White Horse & Bower’ mirrors and the old Shepherd Neame Pale Ale brewery sign. Four handpumps, but only one real ale has been reported post-pandemic. Further updates welcome.

Planning app 21/01669/FULL "Erection of infill extension at first to third floors on Monck Street frontage associated with use of upper floors as five residential units (1x 3 bedroom unit, 4 x 1 bedroom units)" was approved by Westminster Council 9 Nov. 2021.
