In May 2022 the lease of the pub was put up for sale, the intention being to pass it onto an ex-Airbourne soldier.

Reopened in February 2016 after an extensive refurbishment. 'The Traf' welcomes everyone, whilst remaining the last traditional military pub in the town centre that is regularly frequently by soldiers from worldwide. The Trafalgar has a long history of serving the military which is reflected by the artefacts adorning the wall. Theme nights take place throughout the year. There is a small garden and smoking area to the rear. Regular live music Friday evening.

Historic Interest

Legend has it that four pubs existed on land in Aldershot given to a Royal Naval officer who had fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The Trafalgar is now the only surviving one of those four in the area that used to be known as Union Court - opposite Nelson Street. The pub dates from at least 1863 when William Chapman was the landlord and George Trimmer, a brewer of nearby Farnham, owned it. By 1871 fifty-year-old Sarah Harvey, a staymaker, was running the pub, followed by Thomas Fountain as the licensee in 1873. (source pub Website)
