JUN 2023 - Nothing changed - still a joiners workshop

OCT 2021 - Pub has been sold to "a couple" who it is believed wish to run it as a pub/hotel etc. Looks like community buyout will no longer happen. Reopening plans as yet unknown.

MAR 2021 - Feasibility done. Raising money for a survey.

FEB 2020 - Planning application refused. Villagers are undertaking a feasibility into a community buyout

DEC 2019 - Planning app 19/01727/FUL for "Part change of use from hotel to form two offices on ground floor" This is retrospective and the implication is that part of the hotel remains as such. However, the pub/hotel is not currently operating and is being used as office space.

One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest

Listed status: Not listed

A small hotel built 1903 in typical Edwardian-style, with an angular corner tower. The public bar is still intact, retaining its simple counter and plain, four-bay gantry with large areas of mirrors and several drawers for cash and small items. Features include a vestibule entrance, stained and leaded pictorial front windows, contemporary fireplace and half-height panelling with vertical moulding. The lounge and dining room have no old fittings.

Update 2019: Currently closed and being used as offices. Owners recently applied for planning permission for change of use - refused to local and other objections. Locals would like to buy the pub under Scotland’s 'Community Right To Buy’ legislation.

Community Supported

July 2022 Oxton Community Development Limited (a Community Benefit Society) currently operates the Oxton Community Shop. They were also exploring making a bid to buy, however the pub was sold to a couple who wish to run it as a pub/hotel etc.

The Oxton Community Development Limited continues to support the pub and the new owners.
