Tiny Rebel, Newport

Occupying premises to the left of the High St entrance to the newly refurbished Victorian market, this is Tiny Rebel Brewery's spiritual home and very much a major player in Newport's real ale scene. Fairly minimalist decor, though adorned with the Tiny Rebel motif and various artwork in that now familiar and distinctive contemporary style. Very much focused on real and craft keg beers, it appeals to the younger element as well as older folk. A lounge (aka the Cwtch) of sorts is downstairs, with comfortable seating arrayed around low tables. In this general area you may view the impressive cellar while a Newport dragon is positioned where the lavatories may be found. The outdoor area has awnings to provide shelter when needed with some seating in the form of high stools arranged around barrels. Freshly prepared food includes a choice from burgers, wings, loaded fries, ribs, lite bites, and Mexican with some vegan options. The real ale range nearly always includes some from the host brewery plus a couple of interesting guests sourced nationwide. Be warned the prices are upmarket for the area but if you want quality. ... However, a bargain can be had on Monday when The Cask Ale Club sees cask ales sold at £2.50 a pint. Quiz night Thursday.
