An old inn built to serve the Great North Road (A1), now the A638, at its junction with the A635, Barnsley Road.

Darts and pool are played and there’s country and western music live on Tuesdays, quiz on Wednesday and disco on Friday evenings. Four handpumps, but one out of use, serving Hobgoblin beers (Gold & Ruby)

Numerous buses from Doncaster Interchange stop at York Bar which is close by. X19 Barnsley Stagecoach bus stops about 1000 yards up Barnsley road.

Note whilst two Hobgoblin beers are regularly served, both are not always available.
