Opened in 2015 by a couple who are passionate about real ale, the pub as a totally independent operation,. There is a back-to-basics approach and an emphasis on conversation. A changing range of beer and cider. . Handpumps have been installed, with gravity remaining an option. A dark beer is always available. Won both Cider and City Pub of the Year awards for the branch in 2022.

Chosen as CAMRA North East Region Pub of the Year 2022. Was then runner up in the national CAMRA pub of the year competition 2022, making it one if the top 4 pubs in the country. Closed Mondays.
