Free house popular with walkers on the St. Swithun's Way. The emphasis is on local produce both for food and the selection of real ales consisting of three permanent cask beers and a rotating guest. There is a lively pub atmosphere with quiz nights on first and third Wednesdays of the month and occasional music nights. Seating outside to the front and a very pleasant garden with vine pergola and covered areas at the rear. Alton to Guildford bus stops 100m away with a return in nearby River Road.
