17th century “picture-perfect” pub set in National Trust village Styal, on a side-road 100 m away from the main Hollin Lane, the quaint name of the B5166 which runs from Wilmslow to Sth Manchester and the Airport. Real village-pub feel, extensively & expensively refurbished and – yes! – improved, including much naked wood almost everywhere, some varnished; bronzes and copper artefacts, ceramics, etc.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
Busy at mealtimes, of course, and there is a good mixture of drinkers and eaters at weekends.
While not Cask Marque accredited, the staff are trained in-house and the evidence is in the well-kept ales.
