This small family-run free house is a must-visit location for anyone interested in the history of brewing, especially Bass. It is a treasure-trove of memorabilia, inside and out; understandably, there is a nautical theme too. Licensed in 1772 and called the Centurion until 1815. Rebuilt in 1887.

Various keg beers and a large selection of whiskies are on offer, but the pub is reported no longer to be selling real ale. The pub also no longer does food, but customers may bring in their own or have it delivered to the pub, including from the Vietnamese restaurant next door.
