The interior has some magnificent carved oak doors and panelling, stained glass and fireplaces, although the public bar looks mostly modern. At the side is an attractive patio overlooking a garden running down to the Rothley Brook. It is also surrounded by a large private park with a cricket ground. Open daily from 10-11, and food is served most times. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Rothley village.

Historic Interest

This was the Rothley Temple, a 16c manor house where the act for abolition of slavery was drafted. In 1959, the building was converted to a large Post House hotel. It is now in Greene King ownership, acquired with the Old English Inns chain of hotels. The hotel has its own 13c chapel!
