There has been an alehouse here from the late 17th century (the Rose or Rose & Crown) and probably earlier. This is now a massive open-plan restaurant/pub on the banks of the Thames. The name was changed after a very substantial rebuilding. Weeping willows line the riverbank and provide shade to some of the tables in the huge garden, which can seat over 100 people. Might have another real ale on in the winter. A young Raymond Blanc started his impressive career here in the 1970s and married the owner's daughter. Serves breakfast from 7am to 11.30. Refurbished May 2022.

Historic Interest

The north end of New Bridge adjacent to the pub is C14 and listed Grade I. The most complete medieval bridge in Oxfordshire.
