handsome building once known as the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Hotel, convenient for station. Recent customers have included a horse.

Historic Interest

Built as Prince Albert Hotel ca.1840 by William Moorhouse, the property was named in honour of the Prince Consort. The property was obtained by Christopher Sturdy in 1854. Following his bankruptcy in 1861, it was bought by William Earnshaw and occupied by George Earnshaw picking up the name Earnshaw’s Hotel. The development of the local railway network led to its renaming as the Railway Hotel ca.1866.
