Quirky Den, Whitby

Situated in the ancient 'Grope Lane, (where on dark nights one had to grope around), in the Captain Cook area of the town where he served his apprenticeship, under shipping merchant John Walker.

The clue to this rather special micropub is in its name, where a friendly welcome is assurred from enthusiastic and knowledgable owners. Uniquely named, it is worthy of a visit to Whitby alone.

Opened in August 2018. Comprises a small downstairs bar with bench seating. More seating is available upstairs, together with the toilets. Dog friendly downstairs only.

Please note that the opening hours may be extended in the lead up to Christmas, while, following New Year, and the pub has been drunk dry, the owners take a well earned break until well in time for the start of the Easter holidays. See FB for details.

Theakston Old Peculiar, served from wooden sherry casks, is available as a regular beer, while two other guest beers are served, usually a lighter beer and a ruby red.

Third-pint bats available.
