The pub re-opened on 20 December 2022, after having been closed since the end of August that year, following the retirement of Sue Lampon, who had run the pub since 1983. The premises was sold to a builder who wanted the pub to keep going, according to its ACV status. The new licensees are also involved with the Four-Ale Taproom in Stoke Road. The original outdoor area was temporarily open in summer 2023, but it is likely to be reclaimed by the owner in the autumn. Mr Whitehead's Hampshire Perry was introduced recently in spring 2023 to complement the Boxing Dog Cider.
