Plough, Shepreth

Closed for several years, and saved from conversion to residential use, the pub was reopened in July 2014, after extensive renovation and modification. A large L-shaped bar faces the entrance with a drinking area to the right themed on the Spitfire (the pub was popular with wartime pilots based at nearby RAF Duxford) including a fragment of one attached to the wall. To the left is a larger area of seating, where the music theme of the pub begins with images of old vinyl, a theme continued in the toilets, which are decorated with a montage of concert and record release promotional posters. Doors on this side lead through to a spacious patio and the garden beyond. Upstairs has a function room also used as an art gallery, with exhibitions changing every month. Food is aimed at a level above standard pub grub, but avoiding the pretensions of some gastropubs. Many menu items are offered in different sizes, to allow for varying appetites. The cask beers are primarily sourced from small local or regional breweries. It also has five craft keg beers on tap that may include some from Harston based, BrewBoard brewery and Linton based Wylde Sky brewery. It also boasts an impressive number and range real ciders and perries, mostly locally produced. Tasting notes are at the bar. There are frequent live music nights, including alternate Monday Open Mic nights, also comedy and quiz nights. Beside the bar is a display showing train times from Shepreth station.

Having been closed for over two years the Plough reopened in May 2023 initially with restricted opening hours and drinks offered. Meat Up Cambs will be running the kitchen.
