Wine/Cocktail Bar in Hotel.

Not at all a pub but a classy Victorian hotel opposite the Ashmolean museum which contains the galleries built as a result of the gift of a thousand pounds left by Dr Francis Randolph, an eighteenth century university benefactor. Drinks are served in the Morse Bar, supposedly frequented by the detective and his creator. If Morse did enjoy 'a decent pint' here, as claimed, it must have been brought in. Some beer is available in bottles and on tap. There is another bar (The Alice), a restaurant serving lunches and evening meals, and a lounge where you can take afternoon tea, all very expensive. Re-opened after major refurbishment under new owners. The bar opens at 11.30m until 9.30pm, or 10.30, or 11 depending on where you look on the web site.
