Merry Harriers, Hambledon

An impressive 16th-century country pub, very popular with walkers and cyclists, which takes you back in time and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Hambledon set against the backdrop of the Surrey Hills surrounded by open fields, grazing horses and a village green in a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty. This free house pub has been owned since May 2017 by Lana De Savary who lives just 2 miles away. The pub was completely refurbished and renovated by the De Savary’s when an additional 3 bedrooms weren added making 10 in total. However the original character of this classic English pub, both internally and externally, has been retained and enhanced. A good selection of four cask ales is available two of which are sourced from local breweries. As you enter the main bar during winter you are welcomed by a roaring log fire in the large Inglenook fireplace. The food is all sourced locally, apart from fish, from within 15 miles of the pub. Glamping in a separate fenced off field next to the large car park across the road from the pub is now available utilising five shepherd huts The open field at the rear of the pub at the bottom of the garden is home to the pub’s 13 llamas. Walking with the llamas around the local countryside can be arranged via the pub. There is a mini-quiz each Tuesday and a larger one on the second Tuesday every month. A jazz jam session is held on the second Sunday every month. Sitting proudly on the wall surrounded by the names of all the previous landlords is a framed CAMRA Branch Special Award certificate for 10 consecutive years (2010 -2019) in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide.
