This unusually shaped pub up an Old Town close is named after George Heriot, a treasurer to the Stuart kings in the 16th century (hence the jinglin’ of coins). Past the bar is a comfortable lounge-type area featuring a long-case clock along with photos, sketches and pictures of Edinburgh interest. There are also stained glass Saltire and thistle windows and a Jinglin’ Geordie mirror. Its proximity to Waverley station makes this pub a suitable place for a swiftie before catching the train. The guest beers are usually from smaller Scottish breweries.
