Friendly traditional roadside pub on the outskirts of Nottingham. Totally refurbished a few years ago to give a fresh open feel. Dominated by the bar, the L-shaped room has distinctive areas either side of the bars. Plush seating can be found in the dining area to the right, a raised area is to the left and a darts board is tucked away round the corner. A number of screens show varied sports. Child-friendly during meal times (up to 8pm, or 7pm weekends), there is a play area beyond the large rear outdoor seating area. Breakfast is served from 9am Friday and Saturday only.

Historic Interest

Formerly a Shipstone's house when it was known as the Royal Oak. Occasionally still referred to in the area as "The Oak".

In the 1823 Alehouse Recognizances for the South Thurgarton Hundred, the Royal Oak was under victualler Thomas Cave (County Archives C/QD/LV/4/7/9). In 1855 is was a fully licensed establishment under T. Cave and in 1876 the publican was William Wooton (Post Office Directory).
