One of the oldest buildings in the village, this popular community pub is situated on The Pennine Way and features a large comfortable main bar with fires at both ends. Four beers are always available on handpulls. The beer garden is reached via a door from the bar. Walkers are very welcome. Accommodation was being planned, and it was said that completion was likely to be during 2020 but then came COVID, please check with the pub. As of Spring 2022 the pub was also selling soap handmade in the village, homemade dog biscuits, and a book about local walks.
