Formerly Friary Meux now marketed as a Country Pub, the focus here is clearly on food and wine, but up to three real ales are available. A single L-shaped bar is decorated in a modern rustic style, with logs and solid wooden tables. The area to the left of the entrance is laid out for formal dining. This area contains the pubs suspended fire pit. The remainder of the pub is more informal with a book shelf to browse. Popular with families, especially in the summer, and all year round dog walkers calling in after a stroll on adjacent woodland. Caricatures are on the walls in the bar. Outside is a large beer garden with an attractive verandah, adorned with flowers. Food is available all day, may stay open later, but opening hours aren't advertised, so ring if planning a late evening visit. There are two large car parks, one either side of the road. Beer Festival first Saturday in October.
