Historic Interest

The name Ernehale is the Anglo-Saxon origin of today's placename Arnold and means "Eagle's Nook". Along with the Eagle and the Eagle's Corner, the Ernehale is one of 3 contemporary pubs to make reference to the origin of "Arnold". The word "Erne" is an archaic word still used to describe the White Tailed Sea Eagle. The pub building was formerly a Coop and then a furniture shop.
