CAMRA Heritage Pub that is a traditional large back street community pub, where both darts and pool are played. It has three separate bars, Public, Lounge and a Snug. At the rear of the premises is a quiet walled patio garden/smokers retreat, with bench tables.

One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest

Listed status: Not listed

The front section here retains a number of attractive fittings from a refit in the 1930s, notably plentiful fielded panelling, a sloping panelled counter, the bar-back and fireplace. Two doors indicate this was once two rooms. Up steps, the lounge area has seen significant alterations since the war, including loss of a snug; the fittings are also generally quite recent. Behind the rear servery is a cabinet with three large doors, indicating this was used to store casks of beer until quite recently.

General information about historic pub interiors

A large interwar corner pub rebuilt in 1930-1 in an area of dense housing. What is impressive about it is that so much of the original floor plan survives and can be easily read. There are four rooms, the largest of which is the public bar, second from the left. The smallest room is the former jug and bottle which is tapered to fit the site. Much of the original fittings remain such as the herringbone flooring (visible in the public bar), a tiled fireplace. and simply detailed bar counters. A goodly number of the frosted glass windows also remain.
