Accredited for beer quality 2022.

Allegedly haunted by a cavalier, this popular hostelry just off the Castle Square used to hold balls for the local yeomanry in the nineteenth century, and was one of the last buildings in Ludlow to be built of brick. In the 1950s the pub was home to a beer drinking jackdaw. An entry in several of the early editions of the Good Beer Guide (1976-1980).

Despite its central location as one of the closest pubs to the Castle, it feels slightly outside the town drinking circuit, due mainly to the lack of other pubs on Mill Street these days. Anyone remembering its days as one of the more boisterous locals in the town will be surprised by the transformation since it's 2015 refurbishment which has given it a fresh new vibrant and comfortable feel.

Upstairs is the Sitting Room, an adaptable & well-presented space available to hire for various private & public events. Currently (Aug 2019) there are regular poetry readings, French films, a book club, and instruction in how to tie flies for fishing, together with the U3A, singing groups, play readers and LGBT's etc.

Under the same management as the neaby Chang Thai Bar.
