Homely traditional 1670 one room pub with an open fire, friendly customers and staff. Home cooked food available at reasonable prices. The pub is home to two cricket teams, and also darts and domino teams. Rail Station nearby and hourly bus service stops round the corner. The pub is handy for Hadrian's Wall, Vindolanda, Chesters Roman Forts, and close to popular rambling areas. Poster on wall (copy) dated Tuesday 29 July 1845 advertising cheap train to wrestling match.
