This pub is away from the town centre just along the river, in a splendid location in Canbury Gardens. Very popular, especially in fine weather. Inside there is one open area curving around the bar with views of the gardens and river. It has a wooden floor on two levels, scattered chairs and tables with settees in front of the fire. The raised area to the left of the main entrance is a restaurant, which drinkers can use at quiet times. The food is popular, especially on Sundays. Diners are advised to book, especially at weekends. There is a large outside area, partly enclosed with electric heaters in winter, which includes a separate narrow terrace on the riverbank. Quiz night Tuesdays. Accredited for beer quality during 2022.
