This popular freehouse has enjoyed deserved success. Nine handpumps serve a variety of beer styles: keenly priced house beers are supplied by Empire Brewery and include a permanent mild. The open-plan interior retains the feel of separate drinking areas, one featuring a real fire. Walkers and their dogs are welcome and the pub is a popular stop on the Transpennine Real Ale Rail Trail. There is a pool room upstairs. Huddersfield CAMRA Mild Pub of the Year 2022.
