Re-opened in July 2011 by Wetherspoons, originally known as the New Inn, created in 1728 within a farm. It was replaced by the current building in 1935. Refurbished to a very high standard, it's a popular venue, incorporating a downstairs bar area and separate seating areas and a smaller upstairs bar and seating, which is classed as the restaurant area and does not carry the full range of guest beers. There are numerous information boards around the pub describing local history and famous and influenced people from Todmorden. Wheelchair access via the side door is to the ground floor only.

Historic Interest

The long history of these premises dates from 1728, when John and Tamar Fielden opened a hostelry here called the New Inn. It was later renamed The White Hart. In the early 1800s, a ‘Court of Petty Sessions’ was established at the inn. The court was reached by a flight of steps on the outside of the building. In 1935, the old White Hart was replaced by the present mock Tudor-style building.
