This agreeable 2-star hotel has a discreet frontage entered via an attractive, narrow courtyard; which leads into a slightly idiosyncratic interior, with a comfortable lounge area complete with woodburner. The varying thickness and layout of the walls hint at its heritage as an Elizabethan wool merchant's house. Three guest ales usually include at least one LocAle. A modern vestibule leads into a smart dining room and the pleasant suntrap of a garden at the rear of the premises.
