Historic Category B Listed building, dating from 1787, this original grammar school is now a popular pub/hotel adjacent to Stirling Castle esplanade. James 6th of Scotland was educated on this site. Exposed stone walls and an open fireplace with ornate surround create a warm welcome in the heart of old Stirling. Frequented by tourists and supported by locals, it is renowned for its food and regularly changing selection of Scottish and English ales. Always busy, diners are advised to reserve a table.
