A pleasant and popular village pub, with a friendly welcome, within easy reach of travellers on the A30. The inside is spacious and comfortable. The food is good and reasonably priced and the service is good and quick. Locals report that people regularly travel to the pub from the local area to eat. The pub is also a popular village social club, with regular functions and live entertainment. The beer comes from the Otter Brewery, only about a mile up the road. It is well kept and served. There is a bus stop outside, but the Sidmouth to Taunton bus only runs once per day in each direction.
