Built in 1854, this friendly locals' pub has been sensitively refurbished since its takeover in 2021 by the Big Smoke Brewing Co. From the street you enter a tastefully furnished L-shaped bar and dining area, decorated with eclectic paintings and brewery signs. One side looks out onto the canal, alongside which there is outdoor seating. On the bar you will find two ales from the Big Smoke range, plus up to four interesting guests from breweries far and wide. The castle remains nearby are where William the Conqueror accepted the nation's defeat after the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
