After five years under the ownership of two local families, this friendly, comfortable local was sold to the City Pub Co in summer 2018, following a complete refurbishment in 2017 when it was extended at the back and above. The rare snob screens have been moved from the bar counter to a position above the bar back. The original oak-panelling was removed, restored and reinstated, but some had to be replaced. There are picnic tables at the front and in the side beer garden. At the rear is a small car park. Up to eight real ales are normally available, including three changing beers and a house beer "Spivs IPA" (4.1%) from an unnamed brewery. Local CAMRA Pub of the Year 2015 & 2010.
