Previously named the Prince Alfred after the second son of Queen Victoria, who visited the area as a 12 year old in 1856. A Greene King house that offers up to five beers with two coming from the Greene King stable and three other changing beers from the SIBA list. Staff and customers give visitors a friendly welcome. The spacious interior has various different areas in which to sit and relax. Outside there is a heated pagoda which includes a big screen and is a non-smoking, non-vaping area. There are many interesting and historic local photographs around the walls. The food is inexpensive, being innovative, tasty and well prepared. The pub is dog friendly. Outside is a patio area with covered seating for dining and drinking alfresco. TV screens showing both Sky and TNT Sports are sited at various positions around the pub.

This pub opens at 9am to serve breakfast.

A discount is given to CAMRA members on production of a current membership card.
