Cosy village street-corner local, in the same family for many years, and the hub of the local community for well over a century. Hosts regular events and is home to football and pool teams. Beers change frequently, ensuring their quality, and often come from local breweries. There is a carvery on Sunday lunchtime; bookingi is advised. Handy for the nearby Wentworth estate, Needles Eye and Elsecar Heritage Centre. Busy when the pool team are at home, Tuesday evening quiz nights and when the village gala is held in July. Some seating in front of the pub with a small outside area to the rear.
