An authentic and definitely rural local tucked away in the depths of Shropshire Hills country. There are three distinct drinking areas all of which have low beams, exposed stone walls, wood burning stoves/fires - and a well in a corridor. No food, but Saturday night is homemade pizza night! There is also a range of jams and chutneys for sale. The pub is the starting point for walk number 5 in the Walking with Offa series. This confirms that it's one of those places that are close to the Welsh border, which in these parts follows a tortuous and seemingly illogical course. Indeed, you can travel east from here and get to the nearest Welsh village. Also, stroll down the lane across the road and the frontier is crossed. Was once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
