Situated just off the town's main square, this popular free house specialises in its variety of ales and ciders from Shropshire and Herefordshire. 6 ales and 7 Ciders/Perries can be available at any one time. Also a good range of bottled Belgian Beers is stocked. Whilst the Benbow's main bar is basically a comfortable single L-shaped area, there is a small separate room to the rear. It has an attraction as a quiet retreat, but is also available for private functions. Children are not permitted in the pub. The Admiral in the pub's name was a 17th century admiral who attained both fame and public notoriety, and who was born in Shrewsbury.
